David Teitelbaum is an award-winning owner/builder/developer, who is credited with developing
the nation’s first ‘offices-into-apartments’ conversion, creating the nation’s first Real Estate
recycling consortium, & financing Real Estate projects with international funds during NYC’s
financial crisis. From 1974 to 1984 he developed New York City residential, commercial, recreational
& cultural projects in excess of $100 million dollars.
During this period David was active in the NYC Real Estate community - serving on numerous civic boards & historic preservation societies, including: Chairman -The Real Estate Board of New York Adaptive Reuse Committee, advisor - Mayor’s Council on Housing, NYU Real Estate Institute adjunct professor & board member of: Municipal Art Society, Historic Houses Trust, Upper East Side Historic District, Historic Districts Council, Young Concert Artists & others. David has been directly involved in the Real Estate, hospitality & tourism marketplace since1965, when he was a principal of a direct mail-marketing firm that created & produced over 200 million mailing packages per year. In 1975 he acquired the landmark 686 unit, 220,000 s/f Barbizon Hotel, located on NYC’s historic upper east side. He gut-renovated, refurbished & operated this luxury hotel until 1984 - when he sold it to KLM’s Golden Tulip hotel group. |

From 1997 to 2000 David managed a ‘profit/not-for-profit’ partnership with the Cathedral St John the Divine, including the internationally acclaimed Masonry-Training Program, Cathedral StoneWorks & StoneWorks Gallery. In 2003 David acquired the Tortuga Inn Beach Resort & Tradewinds Resort, located in Bradenton Beach, Florida. Both of these Gulf-to-Bay resorts were totally re-positioned, renovated, & refurbished. Twenty-three large, two-bed, two-bath apartments were constructed, decorated & furnished from 2004 - 2006. Ninety luxury apartments in the two resorts were converted into hotel-condominium ownership. Both resorts are outperforming the market in occupancy & average rate, & producing excellent financial returns for their unit owners. David is currently developing luxury condominium apartments on the Gulf of Mexico in Holmes Beach, a Realtor with Island Real Estate, & continues to serve as board president of Tortuga, Tradewinds & Old Bridge Village condominium associations. He also serves on the boards of: Manatee County Tourist Development Council, Bradenton Beach Waterfront Florida Partnership (WAVES), Visit Florida - Public Relations Committee, Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce, & faculty member, moderator & speaker of IMN’s Condominium/Hotel national symposiums.
